Senior Taylor Tomlinson cards key even par round, lowest for any Florida player this week
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Gators enter the third round of stroke play in top 15 position after shooting 303 (+15) on Saturday.
Florida carded the exact same number on the first day of play and now sit at 30-over for the tournament and in 13th. Following tomorrow's round, nine teams will be cut from the field. The remaining 15 will compete in a fourth round of stroke to determine the quarterfinalists for match play.
Senior Taylor Tomlinson was the second Gator out at Karsten Creek Golf Club today. Her 72 (E) was the low score for the team as her score line included two birdies and two bogeys. Tomlinson was at one point 2-under par after sinking her birdie putt on the par-3 third.
She is the only Florida player to shoot even par or better through two rounds at the NCAA Championships. It helped her shoot up 32 spots on the individual leaderboard and tied for 44th.
Sophomore Sierra Brooks remains the top Florida player on the leaderboard. Through two rounds of play, Brooks is 5-over-par and tied for 35th after a second round 76 (+4). She birdied three of the four par-5 holes.
Overall, the Gators continued to take advantage of their par five opportunities. They are now 8-under for the tournament on par-5 holes which ranks third in the field behind UCLA (-11) and USC (-9).
Florida will be paired with Colorado and Wake Forest for round three of the NCAA Championships. Elin Esborn will be the first to play tomorrow with her tee time scheduled for 1:15 p.m. (ET).

Coach's Take
On today's round:
"We were disappointed to not take advantage of the favorable conditions in the morning where some teams were able to make a move. We need to do a better job of recognizing where a solid par or even a bogey save can create some momentum for your round. However, we still have a lot to play for and have to refocus for tomorrow." -- Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
On posting a good number on day three:
"We are as capable as anyone to post a good number on this course, we have the firepower to do it. We need to believe that we can, keep trusting our game plans and execute." -- Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
On Taylor Tomlinson's Round:
"Taylor posted a great round today. She scrambled so well on the front and then settled down for a steady back nine. I'm happy to see her having fun out there." -- Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
Tee Times:
Rd. 3 – Sunday 1:15 p.m. (ET)
