GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida men's basketball will visit TCU on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The event enters its sixth year, with the SEC coming off a 6-4 win in last season's challenge.
Â
The Gators have a 4-1 record in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, including a 3-0 mark under head coach
Mike White. Florida has been impressive in the three wins under White, scoring the victories by an average margin of 23.3 points.
Â
Florida holds a 2-0 all-time record vs. TCU, winning on the road in 1974 and at home in 1986.
Â
This marks the fourth season that the challenge takes place on a Saturday in January, giving the leagues an opportunity for big non-conference showdowns in the thick of conference season.
Â
"The Big 12/SEC Challenge is a unique opportunity to showcase our basketball programs. Playing the event on a single-date in January puts our programs in the college basketball spotlight," SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said.
Â
While the SEC can only send 10 of its 14 teams to the event, the Gators have been selected for participation every year.
Â
Game times and television information will be announced at a later date.
Â
Season tickets for the Gators' home schedule are already on sale. Home dates will include Michigan State, Butler, Kentucky, Georgia and Vanderbilt.
