GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The second-seeded Florida softball team fell 5-4 to No. 15 Texas A&M at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on Friday night.
The Gators found themselves down 2-0 after the bottom of the second inning, but a two-RBI single from senior Janell Wheaton tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third.
Florida continued to add to its lead in the top of the fourth after back-to-back singles by Jaimie Hoover and Hannah Adams. Nicole DeWitt stepped up in a big way, singling to right field to score both Hoover and Adams and give Florida the 4-2 lead.
The Aggies fought back in the bottom of the fifth, taking the 5-4 lead on a three-run homerun by Tori Vidales. That one-run lead would prove to be enough as the Gators were unable to produce any runs in the top of the sixth or seventh.
