Four Gators Earn All-American Honors

Hicklen, Ronbeck and Trombetta earn Second Team accolades; Sydney Pirreca named to Third Team
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four Gator lacrosse players were named 2018 All-Americans, as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced Thursday.
Junior goalkeeper Haley Hicklen, junior attacker Lindsey Ronbeck and sophomore defender Cara Trombetta earned Second Team All-American honors, while junior Sydney Pirreca is a Third Team All-American selection.
The four All-Americans brings Florida's all-time total to 17 players with 59 All-America honors in the program's nine-year history under head coach Amanda O'Leary. The Gators' four 2018 All-America honors are tied with Boston College for the third most in the country.
A two-time BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Haley Hicklen has led Florida to a 17-4 record and the team's first NCAA Quarterfinal since 2014. She finished 15th in the nation with a save percentage of .492 and 14th in ground balls per game (3.14). She anchored a defense that finished 13th nationally in scoring defense, only allowing 9.67 goals per game. Hicklen was also a Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominee and broke UF's single-season record for saves, with 178 this year.
A 2018 Tewaaraton Top-25 Nominee, Lindsey Ronbeck led the Florida offense all season long, playing an integral role in the Gators returning to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Ronbeck led the Florida offense that is fourth in the nation, averaging 16.33 goals per game. She finished first on the squad in goals (65) and points (81) – her 4.50 points per game puts her d in the nation. The Manhasset, N.Y. native was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection, as well as earning a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team as the MVP.
An All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Cara Trombetta helped lead the Florida defense that sits 13th in the nation, allowing only 9.67 goals per game. Trombetta is 18th nationally and second in the BIG EAST in caused turnovers per game (2.05). She had 43 43 CTs this season, a Florida program record and she sits at 70 over the course of her two years as a Gator. She was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team after having caused 11 turnovers in the two tournament games.
The BIG EAST Co-Midfielder of the Year, Sydney Pirreca was a core member of an offense that was fourth in the nation, averaging 16.33 goals per game. She finished third on the Florida team in goals (53) and points (68) and was named to the 2018 Tewaaraton Watch List. The Mount Sinai, N.Y. native, was selected as an All-BIG EAST First Team selection and earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
UF had a program record seven All-Region selections this year and also had seven All-Conference players during the 2018 season.
