Perez to play for Spain at Women’s World Amateur Team Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gators women's golf junior Marta Perez has been selected as one of three players to represent Spain in the World Amateur Team Championships August 29-September 8 in Dublin, Ireland. They will be competing for the women's Espiritu Santo Trophy.
This event only takes place every two years and only three golfers from each country are selected for the teams. Perez is the eighth student-athlete to play in the event under head coach Emily Bastel Glaser and associate head coach Janice Olivencia and the 13th student-athlete in program history. Coach Glaser participated in 2002 in Malaysia, representing the United States and Olivencia played in 2000 in Germany and 2004 in Puerto Rico, representing Puerto Rico.

Before Coach Glaser era
The event will take place on the Montgomerie and O'Meara courses at Carton House, in Maynooth, near Dublin. An Athlete's Village will be created at Maynooth University, which is a10-minute journey from Carton House Golf Club. The Athlete's Village will include Accommodation for teams, and an Athlete Hub which will be designed to include a range of amenities both event-related and extra-curricular in nature.
