Pierce Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Running back leads the Gators rushing attack and had back-to-back games with a touchdown.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Running back Dameon Pierce was named SEC Freshman of the Week, as the league announced Monday.
 
The weekly honor is the first of Pierce's career with the Gators and comes after a solid rushing performance in Florida's 47-21 win over Tennessee. 
 
The Bainbridge, Ga. native rushed for 63 yards on seven carries against the Volunteers. He also scored for the second straight game and his 47-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Gators.     
 
Through four games, Pierce is the Gators' leading rusher with 228 yards on 21 attempts and averages 10.7 yards per run. 
 
The Gators are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Starkville for an SEC matchup with Mississippi State at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
