Prequalifying Singles Draw
TULSA, Okla. – The University of Florida men's tennis team will be back in action this coming week as they send nine to Tulsa, Okla. for the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships.
The University of Tulsa is hosting the championships for the 13th straight year, with matches taking place on the course of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Qualifying singles and doubles will be held Oct. 1-2, with main draw matches running from Oct. 4-8. For three Gators, their journey will begin in the pre-qualifying singles draw, scheduled for Sept. 29-30.
The ITA All-American Championship brings the top Division I players from across the country together for one of the premiere fall events on the schedule. Florida had 10 athletes selected to compete at the championships, which is tied with Texas A&M for the most in the SEC. Nine Gators will compete for the Orange and Blue at the tournament.
Last season, nine Gators competed in the ITA All-American Championship. Johannes Ingildsen and Alfredo Perez walked away with the doubles title, downing a North Carolina duo 10-7 in the championship match. Ingildsen also claimed the consolation title in the singles draw after he defeated Valentine Vacherot of Texas A&M 6-3, 6-3.
Florida is coming off a successful weekend at the UVA Masters tournament in Charlottesville, Va. in which the Gators secured all four championship titles. Sam Riffice/Andy Andrade, McClain Kessler/Duarte Vale and Brian Berdusco/Lukas Greif won their doubles draws and Oliver Crawford defeated Ingildsen for the singles title. The Cacciatore twins, Greysen and Harrison, also reached the semifinals of the doubles draw at the Gamecock Fall Invitational in Columbia, S.C.
