Gators LB Joseph Declares for NFL Draft

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Gators junior linebacker Vosean Joseph has made his decision known: he is ready to test his ability in the NFL.
Florida's leading tackler this season, Joseph said after Saturday's victory over Michigan in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl that he was "still thinking about it." Joseph announced Wednesday via Twitter that he is declaring for the NFL draft.
Joseph had a team-high 93 tackles, including six in Florida's 41-15 win over Michigan in the Peach Bowl. Joseph made one of the biggest defensive plays of the game in the first quarter when on fourth-and-1 at Florida's 38, Michigan opted to go for it. Joseph met Wolverines fullback Ben Mason at the line for no gain, giving the Gators the ball.
Joseph's speed, toughness and athleticism make him a potential early-to-mid-round NFL pick based on various projections by NFL draft analysts. He was named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his 14-tackle, two-sack performance Oct. 6 in the Gators' 27-19 home win over LSU.
A 6-foot-1, 226-pound outside linebacker, Joseph played in 37 games over the past three seasons. He showed off his willingness to hit as a true freshman in 2016 with a memorable stop at the goal line against LSU quarterback Danny Etling. He made his first career start in the 2017 Outback Bowl win against Iowa and became a regular starter as a sophomore.
Joseph started 11 of 13 games in 2018, helping the Gators improve by six wins in head coach Dan Mullen's first season. He finished his final season with nine tackles for loss and four sacks.
Joseph is the fourth UF player to announce he plans to enter the NFL draft as an underclassmen, joining teammates Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Jawaan Taylor and Jachai Polite.
