BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ashley McCool was named the Southeastern Conference Women's Diver of the Week as the SEC announced their weekly awards winners for the first time of the 2019-20 season on Tuesday.
McCool earns her first SEC Women's Diver of the Week accolade for her performance during UF's opening week contests against Florida International, Miami and Florida Atlantic on Sept. 26-28.
In her first week as a Gator, the Arizona State transfer won five-of-six possible events and swept both diving events against Miami and FAU. Her only second-place finish came against FIU in the 3-meter on Thursday afternoon.
Both her top scores of the weekend came against Miami, posting a 1-meter mark 306.83 and 338.25 on the 3-meter.
Florida returns to the pool on Friday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Minneapolis to take on the Gophers at 7 p.m. The Gators will be right back on the road the following Friday for their SEC-opener against Missour at 10:30 a.m.
