
Monserez Named SEC Setter of the Week

Sophomore setter averaged 13.12 assists per set to earn her third honor of the year
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After helping Florida to a 2-0 weekend to stay atop the SEC Standings, Marlie Monserez was honored by the league on Monday afternoon.
Monserez was named SEC Setter of the Week – her third such honor this season.
Over the two matches, Monserez averaged 13.12 assists per set and 2.38 digs per set.
In the five-setter against Ole Miss on Friday night, the sophomore dished out a career-high 63 assists, surpassing her previous best of 52 against Long Beach State. She also notched 11 digs in the match, her seventh double-double of the season.
Against Mississippi State, the Windermere, Fla. native led the Gators to a .402 hitting percentage. She registered 42 assists in the three set, averaging 14.00 in each frame. Monserez recorded three kills and eight digs on the afternoon as well.
Currently, Monserez sits fourth in the SEC with 10.25 assists per set. In conference play alone, the sophomore is averaging 10.59 assists per set, good for fourth overall.
The Gators return home this weekend for two big matches in Exactech Arena. Florida plays LSU on Friday night at 7 p.m. for the brain cancer awareness match, then faces No. 18 Kentucky on Sunday at 3 p.m.
