Gators Drop to No. 11 in CFB Playoff Rankings

The Gators fall a spot in the College Football Playoff rankings despite a 56-0 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators remain the highest-ranked two-loss team in the College Football Playoff rankings.

The 13-member CFB Playoff Committee, which includes UF Athletic Director Scott Stricklin, released its second rankings of the 2019 season on Tuesday night and Florida checks in at No. 11, down a spot from its place in the season's inaugural rankings.
Despite a 56-0 shutout victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday, the Gators (8-2) fell a spot by virtue of Minnesota's upset of previously undefeated and fourth-ranked Penn State. Penn State dropped to 10th this week, a spot behind Minnesota, which jumped all the way to ninth.

Florida (7-2, 4-2) visits Missouri (5-4, 2-3) on Saturday in its final regular-season conference game before hosting Florida State in the regular-season finale on Nov. 30.

This is the second of six CFB Playoff rankings to determine the teams that will play for the national championship. In its sixth season, the top four teams in the final CFB Playoff rankings at the end of the regular season earn berths in the NCAA semifinals. The winners play for the national championship in New Orleans on Jan. 20 in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

LSU moved to No. 1 following its win over Alabama. Ohio State dropped from first to second, followed by Clemson and fourth-ranked Georgia. Alabama dropped from third to fifth after a 46-41 home loss to LSU.
