Florida Welcomes Alabama State in First Round of NCAA Tournament

The Gators and Hornets face off at 7 p.m. on Thursday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida volleyball team begins the 2019 NCAA Tournament with a matchup against Alabama State on Thursday night.

First serve is slated for 7 p.m. in Exactech Arena on the SEC Network +.

Florida (25-4) holds the 3-0 series advantage over the Hornets (17-21) with all three matches coming in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Gators and Hornets faced off in 2014, 2016 and 2017 – with all three matches taking place in Gainesville, Fla.

The last time these two squads faced off was Nov. 30, 2017 when the Gators won in straight sets (25-9, 25-13, 25-9).

Florida hit .446 as a team, while holding Alabama State to a -.014 hit clip. Shainah Joseph and Carli Snyder combined for 17 kills, while Morgyn Greer added six kills of her own on the day.

UF recorded five blocks, led by two apiece from Rhamat Alhassan and Taelor Kellum.

The Gators are looking for their 26th win of the season, which would be the 27th season in Mary Wise's tenure that Florida has recorded at least 26 wins.

Your credential will be available at Will Call (Gate 1 of Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O'Connell Center) one hour prior to first serve of Thursday's opening match, as well as an hour prior to first serve of Friday's match.
