Florida’s Georgia Eaton-Collins is named to England’s team for UEFA Women’s U19 European Championship Elite Round Qualifier
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Rising Gator sophomore defender Georgia Eaton-Collins is part of England's 20-player squad announced today. The team competes next week in Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Women's Under-19 European Championship elite round play in St. George's Park.
The goal for this qualifier is clear: finish at the top. Only the nation that wins the four-team group advances to July's finals in Scotland.
During Eaton-Collins' freshman campaign with the University of Florida, she appeared in 17 matches, playing the entirety of 12 matches at center back. She missed three matches to return to England, playing the entirety of each of the Lionesses' three shut out wins in UEFA U19 group play.
"The team's preparation leading into this event has involved some excellent opposition in various international tournaments," Head Coach Rehanne Skinner said. "We have learnt a lot during those experiences and are now looking forward to hosting the UEFA Elite round on home soil at St. George's Park.
"We face three very different opposition in this competition and will need to be prepared for those challenges. At this stage of the championship, only one team progresses so it provides a great test for us.
"Hopefully we can progress to the Euro Finals to keep gaining crucial exposure and experience for our future Lionesses and their development. The whole team is looking forward to the games."
