GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After playing seven matches on the road in the last 38 days, Florida is set to host Ole Miss and Mississippi State this weekend for the conference opener at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
No. 9 Florida will welcome Ole Miss at 5 p.m. on Friday before finishing the weekend against No. 10 Mississippi State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Gators are coming off a 6-1 win over Arkansas in Fayetteville to open SEC play. Florida has not played on its home courts since hosting the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 26-27.
In the 2019 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Florida was selected to win the conference. Mississippi State was chosen to finish second, only four points behind the Gators. Ole Miss was selected to finish ninth.
The Gators boast four ranked singles players led by No. 24 Oliver Crawford. Johannes Ingildsen, who is a team-best 7-1 in dual singles falls at No. 79. Florida also has four ranked doubles teams. Brian Berdusco and Johannes Ingildsen lead the group at No. 9. This spring, the Gators are 29-14 in singles and 16-7 in doubles and have won the doubles point in seven of their nine matches.
Scouting the Rebels
Ole Miss sits at No. 40 in the recent Oracle/ITA rankings. The Rebels enter the match having lost three of their last four, most recently taking a 4-0 decision over Mississippi Valley State. Of the Rebels eight wins, two have come over ranked opponents in Alabama and Oklahoma State. Ole Miss suffered losses to Kentucky and Vanderbilt to start SEC play. The Rebels have two ranked double tandems in No. 5 Fabian Fallert and Finn Reynolds and No. 75 Filip Kraljevic and Tim Sandkaulen. Tim Sandkaulen is Ole Miss only ranked singles player at No. 73.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Mississippi State enters the match at No. 10 in the recent Oracle/ITA rankings. The Bulldogs extended their home winning streak to 21 matches over the weekend with an SEC sweep of Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Similar to Florida, Mississippi State's only two losses on the season came at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Chicago in mid-February. Mississippi State fell to TCU, five days after the Gators defeated the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth. The Bulldogs are the only team in the country with two top-10 doubles pairs with No. 3 Niclas Braun and Giovanni Oradini and No. 7 Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic. Borges is also ranked in the top-10 for singles at No. 3, while Oradini comes in at No. 102.
