GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 4 Florida dropped the series after a 3-0 defeat to No. 7 Tennessee in the second game of this SEC Opening Weekend's series at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
The Gators (21-4) recorded three hits in the game against the Lady Vols (18-2) and despite a strong five innings of relief by freshman
Elizabeth Hightower, could not overcome a strong UT offense which hit three home runs in the game, including back-to-back solo shots in the second inning.
Amanda Lorenz (1-for-2),
Jordan Roberts (1-for-3) and
Kendyl Lindaman (1-for-3) registered the team's only hits, with Lindaman extending her hitting streak to six games and reaching base safely for the 24th-straight time.
In the circle, starter
Natalie Lugo (6-2) and Hightower combined for nine strikeouts. Hightower gave up only two hits, no walks and no runs across her five innings of work while striking out six in relief.

- Lorenz's triple in the first inning was first of the season and the ninth of her career.
- She now sits fifth all-time in UF history in the category.
- With five scoreless of work today in the circle, Hightower set a new season-high scoreless inning streak at 5.1 innings
- Lindaman extended her hit streak to six games today and has now reached base safely in 24-straight contests.
- The only game she did not reach safely was the first game of the 2019 season against Illinois State Feb. 8.
