Gators Place 58 on SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida placed 58 student-athletes on the 2019 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, announced Wednesday by league commissioner Greg Sankey.
The 2019 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2018 Spring, Summer and Fall terms. Florida's SEC champion men's swimming & diving team placed 16 on the list and the women's team had 23 earn the honor. Eight from the 2019 SEC champion Gator gymnastics team appear on the honor roll. A program-record seven from the men's basketball team that advanced to NCAA Championship action earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll and four from the women's team appear on the list.
All of Florida's student-athletes eligible for the SEC Academic Honor Roll who won league individual titles – Alyssa Baumann (beam), Rachel Gowey (beam), Maxime Rooney (100 fly) and Megan Skaggs (beam) are among today's Gator honorees.
Four swimmers turned in 4.0 grade point averages in 2018 –Taylor Ault, Hannah Burns, Savanna Faulconer and Christoph Margotti.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
