GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 8 Florida fell to No. 3 Florida State, 2-0, in the Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on a chilly Wednesday night.
Â
The Gators (29-9) recorded six hits and received a complete-game in the circle from
Kelly Barnhill (19-5), but the Seminoles' (36-3) two runs on four hits and a strong performance in the circle from Meghan King (19-1) proved to be difference in the game.
Â
Kendyl Lindaman (2-for-3) led the way at the plate for the Gators, while
Jade Caraway (1-for-4),
Amanda Lorenz (1-for-3),
Jordan Roberts (1-for-3) and
Sophia Reynoso (1-for-3) contributed to the cause as well.
Â
Barnhill struck out six and gave up two runs on four hits, and although it was a shaky start from the ace, she managed to settle down and silence an excellent FSU lineup throughout the night.
