Five Gators Earn NCAA Individual Bids

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Great postseason news just got even better for the Florida men's tennis team, with five Gators being selected to the 2019 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, to be held May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
Sophomore Oliver Crawford earned a singles at-large bid, but thanks to his No. 7 ITA ranking, has qualified for a top-16 seed. Sophomore Andy Andrade and freshman Sam Riffice also received at-large bids to the NCAA Singles Championships.
Returning for the second-straight season, sophomore Duarte Vale and senior McClain Kessler were selected for the NCAA Doubles Championships. The duo advanced to the Elite Eight a season ago and earned their first career All-American honors.
This season, Crawford has earned a 22-9 record overall in singles play. The sophomore has tallied a staggering 11 ranked singles wins this season while manning the No. 1 position for the Gators. The Spartanburg, S.C. native has won eight of his last 10 matches and currently holds a career-high ITA singles ranking.
Joining Crawford in Orlando will be Andrade and Riffice, who each earned at-large bids after an impressive season at the No. 2-3 singles position for Florida. Andrade tallied a 22-12 overall singles record and holds a 15-7 dual match ledger. Riffice leads the Gators with a team-high 17 dual singles wins and was an impressive 10-0 in SEC play. The freshman has also earned seven wins over nationally ranked opponents. Both Andrade and Riffice are ranked inside the ITA's top-65.
Additionally, duo Kessler and Vale were selected for the doubles championship. This season, the pair amassed a 13-9 overall record (8-8 dual) and has been ranked as high as 20th nationally. Vale and Kessler return to the NCAA Championships as 2018 All-Americans after downing Langmo and Soriano of Miami in last year's Round of 16.
The draw for the 64-player NCAA Singles and 32-team Doubles Championships will be released closer to the start of the tournament. First-round action begins May 20, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Florida readies to host the NCAA First and Second Rounds for the fourth-consecutive year and will take on fourth-seeded Florida Gulf Coast at 3 p.m. on May 3 to open 2019 NCAA Team Championship.
