2019 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior defensive lineman Jabari Zuniga earned a spot on the 2019 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, as announced last Friday by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.
Zuniga appeared in and started all 13 games a season ago for the Gators as he totaled 45 total tackles, 11.0 tackles-for-loss, 6.5 sacks and four quarterback hurries. The Marietta, Ga. native earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors last fall following Florida's win vs. Colorado State after he posted a career-best 2.5 sacks, five tackles and a QB hurry.
He and his teammate Jachai Polite became the first pair of Gators with at least 11 tackles-for-loss in a season since the trio of Jon Bullard (17.5), Antonio Morrison (12.0) and Jarrad Davis (11.0) all reached that mark in 2015. They are also the first pair of Gators defensive linemen to reach that total in a season since Jaye Howard (12.0) and Justin Trattou (11.0) did it in 2010.
Zuniga, who was one of 42 players named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, enters his senior season with 104 total tackles, 27.5 tackles-for-loss, 15.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.
The voting panel for this award is made up of former winners and finalists, former coaches and players, members of the media and the Board of Directors of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation. The Foundation has donated more than $1.5 million to various charities since its inception in 2004, including nearly $700,000 to universities.
The winner's school receives $25,000 for its general scholarship fund and three finalists receive $5,000 each for their schools. A Lott IMPACT Player of the Week is selected each week during the season and $1,000 is awarded to the school of the player.
