GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5-seed Florida and No. 12-seed Tennessee were deadlocked in a defensive pitchers' duel, but the Lady Vols picked up the win in the ninth inning to force a deciding Game 3 on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Gators (48-16) gave up their first run of the NCAA Tournament in the bottom of the first inning to the Lady Vols (43-16). Chelsea Seggern plated Leach after she sent the 2-2 pitch from starter Kelly Barnhill (33-11) out to right field for an RBI single.

Florida evened the score in the fourth 1-1 thanks to a pair of base hits and an error from the Tennessee infield. Kendyl Lindaman led off the inning with an infield single to second and a throwing error by UT second baseman Kaitlin Parsons allowed Hannah Adams to reach and put runners on first and second.

UF responded in the following frame to tie the game 2-2 thanks to Adams' two out RBI single to center field. The Gators inning with a leadoff walk from pinch-hitter Cheyenne Lindsey but a fielder's choice hit by Jade Caraway erased Lindsey from the bases.

Quotes
Head Coach Tim Walton
Opening Statement:
"Congratulations to Tennessee – it was a really well-played game. Thanks for everybody who came out and helped us set this record tonight. Both teams played really well."

On the crowd tonight
"It was awesome tonight. It's funny – I heard a couple of people talking in the stands, saying 'Oh, I need some water, my voice is getting scratchy,' and I appreciate that people are screaming their guts out for us. At no moment in the game did anyone in the stands think we were going to lose and I felt that. It's a cool memory, we lost, but it was cool to see that everyone had that excitement and passion to try and help us."

Sophomore Hannah Adams
On if they knew Tennessee would battle to a Game 3
"Tennessee played a really good game tonight. We also played a good game tonight and we are going to come out playing like that again tomorrow."

On what's been working well at the plate
"My entire mindset has been working for me, especially in the postseason. We've made it a big point recently that what you did in the last game doesn't matter. I didn't have the best game at the plate yesterday, but it didn't matter. My mindset stayed the same – taking it one at bat at a time, one pitch at a time."

Junior Sophia Reynoso
On every pitch being vital tonight
"In a game like this, with every pitch being vital, a play needs to be made and a hit needs to be hit. We did the best we could trying to put the ball in play, it just didn't go our way."

On bouncing back tomorrow after tonight's loss
"We've been battling tough situations all season long, so we are prepared for this moment. It isn't the situation we wanted to be in, but we are in a good spot mentally. We are ready to fight with the same attitude, mentality and effort that we came out with today."
