GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior pitcher Kelly Barnhill of the Florida softball program received her bachelor's degree in Public Relations this past weekend.
"I'm so proud of Kelly. She dedicates just as much time and effort in her pursuit of academic excellence as she does when she prepares to take the field." Tim Walton said. "She's a two-time Academic All-American and I'm proud of the way she has been able to balance being an elite-level student-athlete over her career."
Barnhill, the 2018 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, walked across the stage inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Sunday, May 5, after the Gators closed out the regular season against Mississippi State.
Her academic focus is now the pursuit of her master's in Global Strategic Communications.

"I am so thankful for the amazing education I have received from the University of Florida. I wholeheartedly believe that the classes and professors prepared me to succeed in the real world and that the skills I have learned will help me in whatever career I pursue after softball, whenever that may be. I am very excited to be continuing my education at UF by getting my master's in Global Strategic Communications as there is always so much more to learn and more ways to grow."
Florida is set to travel to College Station, Texas to compete against South Carolina in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament Wednesday, May 8, at 1:30 p.m. (ET) on the SEC Network.
