GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Florida women's golf team have earned post-season accolades from the SEC, as announced by the league Thursday morning. This is the fourth straight year Florida has had multiple players garner All-SEC team honors.
Juniors Sierra Brooks and Marta Perez and freshman Clara Manzalini all earned spots on the All-SEC Second Team. Manzalini also got herself a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. Sophomore Lauren Waidner earned a spot on the SEC Community service team.
Perez finished co-runner up at SEC Championships in April and most recently finished in 14th at the NCAA Regionals in Oklahoma. She also leads the team with a 72.77 stroke average and six top 10 finishes, with her best coming at SEC Championships.
Brooks finished in a tie for eighth at Regionals and ninth at SEC Championships. She sits right behind Perez with a 72.93 stroke average and four top 10 finishes, with her best coming at the Cougar Classic in September where she took home the title with a record-breaking final round score of 62.
Manzalini finished in a tie for fifth at SEC Championships and was the first Gator freshman to finish inside the top five since current LPGA player Maria Torres finished tied for fifth her freshman season as a Gator in 2014. She is even with Brooks with a 72.93 stroke average and has six top 10 finishes on the season.
Waidner was an active member of SAAC, took part in the Gators Tracks Program where she delivered shoes to local children in the area and picked out their socks and helped make sure that the shoes fit the children. She also went on regular Shands trips visiting patients in the pediatric ward of the hospital. She also assisted with the Special Olympics and went to Idylwild Elementary for their annual Fun Run in March.
