
Alabama Tops Florida to End Gators' WCWS Stay

Florida's 2019 season came to an end after the Gators exited the Women's College World Series with a 15-3 defeat to No. 8-seed Alabama at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium – OGE Energy Field.
The Gators (49-17) fell behind early 6-0 to the Crimson Tide (58-9) with a pair of three-run home runs by Kaylee Tow and Merris Schroeder.
Alabama then pushed across four more runs in the 3rd and five in the 5th to extend its' lead out to 15-0 over Florida. Bailey Hemphill capped UA's scoring with a three-run home run to left center field.
Offensively, UF managed to record a hit in every inning of play and thwarted Alabama starter Sarah Cornell's (22-1) attempt at a shutout when junior Kendyl Lindaman drove a one-out solo home run over the center field wall in the top of the 5th.
Sophia Reynoso followed up Lindaman and closed down the Alabama lead to 15-3 with a two-out, two-run home run that scored senior pinch-runner Lily Mann from first.
Senior Kelly Barnhill (34-14) received the loss after she exited in the bottom of the 1st inning with two outs, but returned in the bottom of the 4th to throw one strike to Brown before being relieved to a standing ovation from the crowd.
In her final game wearing the Orange & Blue, Amanda Lorenz went 1-for-3 at the plate for the Gators.
