
Dyson Selected by Washington Nationals

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—University of Florida right-hander Tyler Dyson was selected in the fifth round by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday afternoon.
Dyson is the 48th Gators pitcher to be drafted in 12 years under head coach Kevin O'Sullivan, including 23 pitchers taken in the top 10 rounds of the draft.
Gators' fans will forever remember Dyson as the starting pitcher in Florida's 2017 College World Series Championship Game 2 win over LSU. In the clinching game, Dyson was the winning pitcher after tossing six innings with just one run allowed.
Despite battling various injuries the past two years, Dyson has a 12-5 career record with a 4.26 earned run average over 49 appearances, including 22 starts. In 2019, he went 3-2 over 11 games (9 starts) with a 4.95 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched.
