
Beach Captures Bronze Medal as Gators Conclude the World University Games

NAPLES, Italy- Clark Beach headlined the University of Florida swimming & diving teams at the World University Games as he captured a bronze medal in the 200 back.
Beach earned the Gators' lone medal after hitting the wall in a time of 1:57.96. The day before, Beach posted a semi-final time of 1:57.68, finishing in the third spot again.
Trey Freeman was the first Gator to hit the water on July 4 by notching a fourth-place finish in the 400 free final (3:50.55). A few days later, Freeman competed in his second event, the 200 free, where he captured a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:48.65.
Taylor Ault represented the Gators and Team USA as she participated in the 800 freestyle. The rising junior notched a prelim-time of 8:43.52 before ultimately securing a fourth-place finish with a swim of 8:39.21 in the final.
Associate men's head coach Stephen Jungbluth also made the trip to Italy and coached Freeman and Beach as an assistant coach on the men's Team USA staff.
The United States brought home a competition-high 40 total medals throughout the swimming events, including 19 golds. The next closest country was Japan with 20 total medals.
