Gators Add Transfer Guard Appleby

Appleby had a pair of 30-point outings and a triple-double while averaging 17.2 points per game last season at Cleveland State.
The Florida men's basketball team has added point guard Tyree Appleby, who averaged 17.2 points and 5.6 assists at Cleveland State as a sophomore in 2018-19. Appleby will sit for the 2019-20 season under NCAA transfer regulations and has two years of eligibility after that.66555
 
The 6-foot-1 Jacksonville, Ark., native scored 899 points and dished 297 assists over the course of two seasons for the Vikings. After coming off the bench his first eight games, Appleby started 54 of his last 55 games.
 
Appleby posted 14 games with 20 or more points during his CSU tenure, including a career-best 37 in a win against Bowling Green last season and a 33-point outing at UW-Milwaukee. He posted a triple-double – the first in Cleveland State history – with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a home victory over UW-Milwaukee and erupted for 26 points and 11 assists vs. IUPUI.
 
Appleby earned Horizon League All-Freshman honors and earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Tournament Team in 2018, helping the team to the conference championship game. He went on to earn second-team All-Horizon League accolades in 2019.
