For the 2018-19 academic year, 332 Gators earned SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida saw 81 student-athletes named today to the 2018-19 Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll by league commissioner Greg Sankey. Grades from the 2018-19 academic year determine the 2019 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
Today's announcement brings Florida's total of student-athletes named to a 2018-19 SEC Academic Honor Roll to 332. Florida placed 251 on SEC Academic Honor Rolls (90 on fall list; 58 winter, 103 on spring) and 81 on the First-Year Honor Roll.
Five finished their first academic year at Florida with 4.0 grade point averages – Greysen Cacciatore (tennis), Harrison Cacciatore (tennis), Leah Clapper (gymnastics), Santiago Morales (diving) and Jacob Young (baseball).
2019 SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Year Trinity Thomas and SEC Co-Freshman Swimmer of Year Kieran Smith also earned spots on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
To be recognized to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
