
Cleveland, Toney Named to Wuerffel Trophy and Paul Hornung Award Watch Lists

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The All Sports Association of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and the Louisville Sports Commission announced the 2019 candidates for the Wuerffel Trophy and Paul Hornung Award respectively, as senior wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland was named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List while junior wide receiver Kadarius Toney was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List. Toney was also just recently named to the Preseason All-SEC list last week, receiving second-team recognition.
Cleveland appeared in and started all 12 games during the regular season in 2018, totaling 18 catches for 212 yards and three touchdowns. The Houston, Texas native served as a gunner on Florida's punt team, recording five tackles and causing UF opponents to call countless fair catches due to his speed. He reached a season-high of three receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown in UF's win over Idaho. Cleveland enters his senior season with a total of 54 receptions for 920 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Wuerrfel Trophy is annually presented to the player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic achievement.
Toney played in 12 games in 2018 and saw time at wide receiver and as the team's wildcat quarterback. The Mobile, Ala. native finished the season with 629 all-purpose yards, totaling 25 receptions for 260 receiving yards and one touchdown, 21 rushes for 240 yards, six kickoff returns for 133 yards, one punt return and a 20-yard touchdown pass as he completed one pass on a trick play. Overall for the season, Toney recorded 12 explosive plays between rushing, receiving, passing and returns and notched his season-long rushing attempt of 34 yards in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against Michigan. Toney enters his junior season with a total of 34 rush attempts for 360 yards, 40 receptions for 412 yards and one touchdown.
The Paul Hornung Award is annually presented to the most versatile player in college football.
