GAINESVILLE, Fla. – You knew that after months of anticipation and three weeks of preseason camp, the Florida-Miami season opener must be getting close when Hurricanes coach Manny Diaz named Jarren Williams the starting quarterback on Monday.
Finally, some tangible news that impacts what will transpire on the field 10 days from today at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
A redshirt freshman, Williams played in just one game a season ago and completed 1 of 3 passes for 17 yards. He beat out former Ocala Vanguard standout N'Kosi Perry and Ohio State transfer Tate Martell for the starter's job.
