
Gators Unveil 2019-20 Swimming and Diving Schedule

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving programs announced their 2019-20 schedules on Wednesday.
The season will get underway with both teams making trips to south Florida to participate in multiple meets from Sept. 26-28.
Coach Poppell's squad will hit the water first on the 26th against Florida International and then will turn around and face Miami the following day at 3:00 p.m.
The reigning Southeastern Conference Championships will travel to Fort Lauderdale to start their season off in a tri-meet with Nova Southeastern and Indian River on the 27th as well.
Both teams will come together for the first time on the year by facing off with Florida Atlantic on Sept. 28 in Boca Raton at 10:00 a.m.
A home opening matchup with Georgia on Nov. 1 highlights the teams' home slate. Florida State and Auburn will also make trips to the O'Connell Center to face the Gators throughout the course of the season.
In addition, the women's team will play host to its lone quad-meet with Vanderbilt, Liberty and North Florida to begin the new year on Jan. 3 at the O'Connell Center.
This season, the Gators will travel to non-conference opponent Minnesota on Oct. 11, Missouri in their first conference meet on Oct. 18 and will wrap up its SEC slate by facing Tennessee in Knoxville on Feb. 1.
The schedule also features four invitationals: the Georgia Tech Invitational, Auburn Last Chance Invitational, Auburn Diving Inviational (women only) and the annual Florida Invite Last Chance in Gainesville, which will serve as the last opportunity to meet time standards for the NCAA Championships.
Post-season competition will begin for both teams with the 2020 SEC Championships on Feb. 18-22 hosted by Auburn and will continue when the divers compete at the NCAA Diving Zones on March 9-11 (location TBD).
The 2019-20 campaign will wrap up with the 2020 NCAA Championships, beginning with the women on March 18-21 in Athens, Ga. and the men swimming the following week in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 25-28.
Gators who meet the US Swimming time standards throughout the season will qualify to compete at the Olympic Swimming Trials on June 21-28 in Omaha, Neb. with hopes of competing in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
