
10 Gators Qualify for Finals on Day Four of Phillips 66 National Championships

STANFORD, Calif.—The University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving program had 10 swimmers in the finals on Friday night at the Stanford Avery Aquatic Center.
Robert Finke and Clark Beach both brought home third-place finishes in their respective events with personal-best performances.
Finke got the Gators going by earning his third medal in the 400 free after hitting the wall in 3.48.17. Finke adds his third-place finish to a pair of event victories earlier in the week.
Clark Beach earned his second medal in the 100 back, posting a career-best time of 53.95.
Vanessa Pearl made her third appearance in an event final after posting an Olympic trial cut of 1:09.89 in the 100 breast prelims. She would go on to place third in the C-final in a time of 1:09.37, just .05 off from her personal-fastest swim.
Adrianna DeBoer would join her in the event, posting a career-best mark of 1:12.59 in her first individual competition in the championships.
Former Gator Mitch D'Arrigo, Trey Freeman and Matthew Anderson would join Finke in the 400 free, with two making finals appearances.
D'Arrigo advanced to the A-final and tied for sixth-place with a mark of 3:50.37. He posted an Olympic trial cut with the third-fastest swim of 3:49.67, a career-best, in the morning prelims.
Freeman advanced to the B-final and posted the third-fastest time after registering a mark of 3:51.16.
In his first event at the championships, Anderson swam a mark of 3:58.77.
Four Gators would try the women's 400 free, highlighted by final appearances by Taylor Ault and Kathleen Golding. Ault posted a third-place finish in the C-final with a time of 4:12.79. Golding, an incoming freshman, would join her in the event and finish in fifth with a career-best mark of 4:14.38.
Savanna Faulconer and Nikki Miller would join the pair in the prelims earlier in the day. Faulconer posted a time of 4:19.30 and Miller finished in 4:22.43, her first individual event of the week.
Three additional individuals joined Clark Beach in the 100 back, with all of them posting Olympic trial cuts.
Ethan Beach and Dakota Mahaffey both went on to post career-bests with marks of 55.97 and 56.22, respectively. Ryan Lochte added a mark of 55.08, the 15th-fastest mark of the prelims.
A pair of Gators qualified for the women's 100 back finals, highlighted by Sherridon Dressel's career-best mark of 1:02.66, good for the 18th-fastest swim overall.
Incoming freshman Talia Bates joined her and swam in her fourth event at the championships. Her prelim time of 1:03.00 would advance her to the D-final where she placed seventh with her career-best mark of 1:02.70.
Dillon Hillis and Ross Palazzo rounded out the Gators performers in the men's 100 breast, both posting Olympic trial cuts in the prelims.
Hillis would advance to the D-final, which saw him post a mark of 1:02.65, a personal-best.
Sunday's eight events will conclude the Phillips 66 National Championships with 15 Gators slated to compete.
