GAINESVILLE, Fla.— The No. 9 Gators released their depth chart on Monday for their week four contest against Tennessee on Sept. 21 at noon.
The Gators will have a new quarterback under center after head coach
Dan Mullen announced Monday that
Feleipe Franks will miss the remainder of the season due to a dislocated ankle suffered in their SEC opener against Kentucky last week. The timetable for Franks' recovery is six months.
Mullen also said both
CJ Henderson and
Jabari Zuniga could be available on Saturday. Last week, Henderson sat out due to an ankle injury.
Kyle Trask and
Emory Jones will both step-in for Franks against the Volunteers. Last week, Trask completed 9-of-13 passes for 126 yards (tied for career-high) and added a four-yard touchdown rush to give the Gators the lead late in the fourth quarter.
The running back rotation will remain as the team's leading rusher
Lamical Perine will continue to be the starter.
Malik Davis,
Dameon Pierce and
Iverson Clement will back him up and rotate throughout the game.
The receiver corps will be led by
Van Jefferson,
Josh Hammond,
Tyrie Cleveland,
Trevon Grimes,
Freddie Swain,
Jacob Copeland and
Rick Wells as the team will continue to be without
Kadarius Toney, who is out due to an upper body injury.
Both
Kyle Pitts and
Lucas Krull will take the majority of the snaps at tight end with
Kemore Gamble and
Dante Lang continuing to back them up.
The defensive front for the Gators remains the same as Zuniga,
Kyree Campbell,
Adam Shuler,
Jonathan Greenard and
Jeremiah Moon are looking to build off their FBS-leading 16 sacks.
David Reese II, coming off a career-high 16 tackle game against Kentucky, will be the man in the middle of the defense alongside
Ventrell Miller and
Amari Burney, who is expected to be back after missing two straight weeks. Burney will also see time at Star with
Trey Dean III.
If Henderson remains out, the cornerback position will be controlled by
Marco Wilson and the Gators' trio of freshman (
Kaiir Elam,
Chester Kimbrough and
Jaydon Hill).
Jeawon Taylor,
Brad Stewart Jr.,
Shawn Davis and
Donovan Stiner will serve as the team's safeties. Last week, Davis had his first multi-interception game of his career and Stewart Jr. recovered his first career fumble.
