CHICAGO, Ill. – The Florida men's golf team remains tied for eighth place after the second round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.
With strong winds throughout the day, every team in the field is now above par. Baylor leads the group at 4 over.
John Axelsen highlighted the Gators' lineup through the second round. The junior went into the clubhouse with an even par performance, keeping him at even par overall and tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard.
The final round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational is set to begin tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Head Coach JC Deacon's Take
On the team's second-round performance…
"Olympia Fields was a monster today. 25 mph winds all day. Other than out start we had a decent day. I'm excited about the resiliency and toughness our team has shown early in this season. We don't seem to back down at all when things get hard."
On heading into the final round tomorrow…
"The wind and rain look like they will provide another challenging day tomorrow. It's a great opportunity for our team to play a solid final round and move up on the board. Tomorrow we are going to come out more aggressive and ready to compete from the get go."
