Thursday, September 26, 2019 | Men's Swimming & Diving
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Gator men's swimming and diving team begins their quest for their eighth-consecutive conference championship this weekend with a pair of meets against in-state competition.
On Friday, the Gators will open up their season at 3:00 p.m. with a tri-meet for the first time in their program's history against Nova Southeastern University and Indian River State College. This will mark the first matchup between Florida and Nova, while the Gators and the River were consistent opponents from 1998-2010. The Gators own the series with a record of 10-0.
The men and women will then come together in Boca Raton on Saturday for their last meet of the weekend at FAU. Last season, the men opened up at FAU and picked up a 240-58 victory to start off the year.
The Gators posted a sixth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships, the seventh-straight year that Florida finished highest of any SEC team. A total of 12 Gators qualified for the championships, taking home 30 All-American honors for their performances.
