Moon Named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Jeremiah Moon notches defensive honors after Florida's shutout win over Towson.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced their weekly football honors on Monday, as redshirt junior Jeremiah Moon was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in Florida's 38-0 win over Towson on Saturday.
 
Moon, a native of Hoover, Ala., recorded a season-high five tackles, including 0.5 sacks for a loss of four yards, in Saturday's win. Moon was one of eight Gators in Saturday's game to record 0.5 sacks, as the defense notched their second shutout of the season for the first time since 2012. Additionally, Florida leads the SEC in sacks with 24 overall, while tied for second amongst the rest of the FBS.
 
Moon has tallied 19 tackles on the season thus far, good for third on the team, while he's second on the team in tackles for losses with 5.5 for a loss of 15 yards.
 
The Gators cap their three-game home stand this Saturday, Oct. 5, hosting Auburn for a 3:30 kickoff on CBS on Homecoming weekend.
