Led by John Axelsen, the Gators completed round one of the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Friday.
DALTON, Ga. - The Florida men's golf team sits in 11th place after round one of the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
A young Florida lineup began the day steady, but a bogey-riddled back nine prevented it from going low. There are still 36 holes left to play at the Farm Golf Club, giving the Gators an opportunity to climb the leaderboard.
Individually, junior John Axelsen led the way for UF and is tied for seventh after shooting an even-par 72.
Round two is set to begin tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. ET.

"After the amazing week of preparation we had, I was surprised to see us finish up the way we did. I know this is a good team, but we are young and there are going to be some bumps along the way. We definitely learned a lot today. I expect two great rounds this weekend from the guys which will hopefully give us a chance to win Sunday afternoon."
