Day Two Prelim Results
AUBURN, Ala. – A total of 13 Gators will swim in Wednesday night's finals on the second day of the 2020 Southeastern Conference Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.
Seven Gators would open up the second day of the championships with final-qualifying times in the 500 free.
Leah Braswell led the way with an effort of 4:42.09, good for the top spot heading into the evening B-final. Taylor Ault finished right behind her by less than a second (4:42.98), good for 10th and a new season-best.
The final pair of Florida swimmers to qualify for the B-final was Savanna Faulconer (13th) and Tori Bindi (16th).
Faulconer's time was a new season-best, while Bindi hit a new personal-record with her effort of 4:45.02.
Qualifiers for the 500 free C-final includes Tylor Mathieu, Georgia Darwent and Nikki Miller.
Mathieu would post a B-cut with a 20th-place finish of 4:46.60, while Darwent's time of 4:46.60 placed her 22nd.
Miller would go on to win her heat with a new season-best time of 4:47.34, besting her mark set at the Georgia Tech Invite.
Gabby Hillis and Bella Garofalo both will swim in the 50 free B-final as the pair both hit new personal-bests.
Hillis finished in 12th with her 22.25 swim, while Garofalo finished just .03 seconds behind her in 14th-place.
A season-best tally for Vanessa Pearl earned her the top seed heading into the 200 IM B-final. Her mark of 1:56.76 just missed a top-eight finish by .08 seconds.
Kelly Fertel will join her in the B-final, placing 14th with her swim of 1:58.32.
Freshmen Kathleen Golding and Talia Bates both qualified for C-finals in their first respective individual event at their first career SEC Championships.
Golding posted a B-cut effort of 1:59.18 in the 200 IM, while Bates touched in 22.54 (21st) in the 50 free.
The final pair of Gator performers were Jillan Hatch (500 Free) and Emma Ball (50 free).
Hatch posted a 35th-place in with her swim of 4:52.05, and Ball finished in 31st with a tally of 22.68.
What's Next
Wednesday's finals will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET with the 200 free relay, followed by the A, B, and C-finals of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 1-meter.
Competition on Thursday will start at 10:30 a.m. ET with the 400 IM.
