Dressel and Ball Qualify for 100 Back A-Final on Friday Morning

Auburn, Ala. – Sherridon Dressel and Emma Ball posted top-five event swims in the 100 back prelims to highlight Friday morning action for No. 7 Florida at the 2020 Southeastern Conference Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.
After medaling in her first individual event of the competition last night, Dressel continued her momentum into the back event with a swim of 51.07, the third-fastest overall effort. The time sits as the fifth-fastest in the NCAA this year.
Ball would finish right behind her in fourth-place with a new personal-best swim of 51.38, .50 faster than her previous-best.
The improvement moves her up one spot on UF's all-time list to the third-fastest 100 back swim by a Gator ever. Dressel currently owns the second-fastest swim in program history with her personal-best of 50.93.
Florida's lone representative in a B-final is Allie Piccirillo after the freshman set a new personal-best tally in the 200 fly of 1:57.17, a full second faster than her previous-best.
Joining her in setting new personal-bests were Nikki Miller (1:59.19) and Jillian Hatch (1:59.44). They both qualify for tonight's C-final.
The final competitor in the event was Kelly Fertel, who touched in 2:01.22 (31st-place).
Rosie Zavaros qualified for the 100 back C-final with a new personal-best as well, touching in 53.35 for a 17th-place finish overall.
Talia Bates also competed in the event, finishing in 33rd-overall with a time of 54.24.
The final Gator swimmer to hit the pool was Tylor Mathieu, who finished 31st in the 100 breast with a swim of 1:03.29, missing her previous-best by just .02 seconds.
