
Twelve Florida Swimmers Selected to Compete at 2020 NCAA Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Twelve No. 7 University of Florida women's swimmers will represent the Gators at the 2020 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on March 18-21 inside the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
Taylor Ault, Emma Ball, Leah Braswell, Sherridon Dressel, Savanna Faulconer, Kelly Fertel, Bella Garofalo, Kathleen Golding, Gabby Hillis, Nikki Miller and Vanessa Pearl all earned individual bids by posting top-37 or 38 times in their respective events during the 2019-20 campaign.
Dressel and Pearl lead the way with three individual bids each, with Ault, Braswell and Fertel also tallying multiple selections.
In total, Florida will have at least two representatives in six events, including a team-high four participants in the 400 IM.
UF's 11 individual swimmers is tied for eighth-most qualifiers across the entire NCAA, with Stanford and Virginia leading the way with 15 swimmers each.
In total, 281 swimmers from 54 universities will compete individually at the championships.
Talia Bates will head to Athens as a relay-only swimmer as the Gators also qualified for four-of-five possible relays as the 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley all met the time standard for their respective event.
UF, who finished 24th last year at NCAA's with 44 points, will have the chance to send more representatives to the national meet with divers heading to NCAA Diving Zones in Athens, Ga. on March 9-11 to meet qualification scores on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives.
Florida will head into the national meet after posting its second-straight second-place Southeastern Conference Championship finish, tallying 1,079.5 points over the five days of competition in Auburn, Ala. on Feb. 18-22. At the conference meet, UF tallied seven medals and set 11 new top-10 program swims.
