Gators Lead Entering Final Round

The No. 9 Florida women’s golf team holds a four-stroke lead entering the final round of the VyStar Gators Invitational.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 9 Florida women's golf team holds a four-stroke lead after the first 36 holes of the VyStar Gators Invitational on Saturday at Mark Bostick Golf Course.

The Gators shot 4 over in the opening round of the event, and six over in the second round to finish the day at 10-over 570. Virginia Tech is currently in second place at 14-over 574.

On the individual leaderboard, UCF's Tunrada Piddon has a two-stroke lead at 1-under 139. Piddon is the only player in the field to record an under-par score through 36 holes.

Annabell Fuller led the Gators through the first two rounds. The freshman opened the tournament with a 69 and then followed that up with a 73 to finish at 2 over on the day and fourth on the individual leaderboard.

Clara Manzalini is right behind Fuller, recording a 3 over through her first 36 holes to sit in a tie for fifth.

Marina Escobar went into the clubhouse at 4 over on the day and in sole possession of ninth place individually.

Senior Marta Perez opened her final VyStar Gators Invitational at 5-over par to put her in a tie for 10^th.

After a first-round 77, Addie Baggarly hit her stride in the afternoon. The junior had three birdies and only one blemish through her second 18 holes for a 1-under 69. Baggarly's under-par performance moved her up 26 spots on the leaderboard, putting her in a tie for 13^th heading into the final round.

Florida also has four individuals competing in the event – Elin Esborn, Jenny Kim, Carlotta Ricolfi and Lauren Waidner. Kim currently leads the group at 7 over and in a tie for 17^th.

The final round of the event is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.
