Brings total to 35 lacrosse players earning academic honors during the 2020 campaign
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Fourteen Florida lacrosse players were named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, as the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday. Those 14 bring the total to 35 student-athletes with academic honors in the 2020 season, the most in program history.
Whitney Albert, Lexi Ashby, Tori Bates, Becky Browndorf, Georgia Ceanfaglione, Emily Heller, Kylee Hubiak, Sarah Mackey, Carli Mangum, Kaala Puglisi, Jill Quigley, Shelton Sawers, Janine Suris, and Devin Thompson were the first-year Gators honored by the league.
Last week, 21 Gators earned a spot on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, the most in history of the Florida lacrosse program.
On the field, the Gators finished 6-2 due to the shortened season. Florida defeated four ranked opponents, including No. 1 Maryland and No. 3 Stony Brook. Three Gators collected ILWomen All-American accolades and one Gator was named to the ILWomen All-Rookie Team.
To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
