Women's basketball’s matchup originally slated for Dec. 31 to be played this coming Thursday.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced Friday morning that the University of Florida women's basketball team's contest at Vanderbilt which was originally slated for Dec. 31 has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21 in the Music City.
The game is set for a 1 p.m. ET tipoff from Memorial Gymnasium and will be broadcast nationally on SEC Network.
The Dec. 31 matchup between the programs, which was scheduled to be both squads' conference opener, was postponed due to a combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the Vanderbilt program and instead Florida traveled to No. 5 South Carolina after the Gamecocks' game with Ole Miss was postponed.
The league announced a revised three-game slate for women's basketball games to be played on January 21 as a result of game postponements during the 2021 season due to the impact of COVID-19.
The schedule for January 21 includes three games rescheduled from earlier in the season and the originally scheduled non-conference match-up of Connecticut at Tennessee.
Revised schedule of SEC Women's Basketball Games for January 21:
The SEC's COVID-19 management requirements, as developed by the SEC's Return to Activity and Medical Guidance Task Force, are available on SECsports.com.
Thursday will be UF's sixth of 11 total contests scheduled for national television this season.
UF has picked up five-straight wins against Vanderbilt, its longest active streak against any SEC opponent.
