Meet the Gators: Michael Robertson
Friday, October 1, 2021 | Baseball
Batting second in Florida's 2021 Meet the Gators series is freshman outfielder Michael Robertson, who hails from Venice, Fla. Robertson will don the No. 11 jersey for the Gators as he looks to make an impact in his debut season in Gainesville.
Recently ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country by Perfect Game, Florida's 2021 freshman class features 16 freshmen and one four-year college transfer. Individually, Robertson comes to the Gators as the No. 139 overall player nationally, including the No. 18 player and No. 4 outfielder in Florida.
As a four-year letterwinner in baseball under head coach Craig Faulkner at Venice High School, Robertson helped power the Gondoliers to a pair of state championships as a freshman and sophomore alongside current Gators teammate Mac Guscette. Robertson and Guscette are not the only noteworthy Florida players to have found success at Venice, as Gator greats Mike Rivera and Dalton Guthrie spent their prep days as Gondoliers as well.
Over the course of his high school career, Robertson received All-Area honors on four separate occasions. As a senior in 2021, he batted .477/.583/.616 with two triples, eight doubles, 27 runs scored, 16 RBI and 17 stolen bases. Robertson committed just one error in the field across two seasons from 2020-21, posting a .976 fielding percentage with two outfield assists.
Robertson also competed for the Florida Burn during his prep years, where he won back-to-back World Wood Bat Association (WWBA) World Championships.
Not only did Robertson perform exceptionally on the diamond, but he held his own off of it as well. As a dual enrollee at Venice, he graduated with a 3.9 GPA and earned an Associate of Arts degree.
As the son of Wayne and Cedona Robertson, Michael has two older sisters (Hannah and Jaysa) and one older brother (Kody). Playing collegiate athletics runs in the family, as his father was a football and tennis student-athlete at Liberty University. Robertson intends to major in business at the University of Florida.
