Gators In The NFL: Week 5
Monday, October 11, 2021 | Football
GAINESVILLE, Fla -- In a busy week five of the NFL, two Gator rookie weapons showed why they were worthy first-round selections.
Offensive Highlights
Explosiveness. There was plenty of it on display from a duo of young Gator stars on offense.
In April, the Atlanta Falcons made Kyle Pitts the highest drafted tight end in history, selecting him fourth overall. On Sunday, Kyle Pitts went over the century mark for the first time in his NFL career with 119 total yards on nine receptions and a two-yard touchdown grab.
Pitts' 308 receiving yards this year is more than any tight end in his first five NFL games since 1961.
New York Giants receiver Rookie Kadarius Toney also wasn't shy of making highlight reel plays. Only Green Bay's Devante Adams had more catches and yards than Toney's 10 receptions for 189 yards Sunday.
Defensive Highlights
Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone added to week full of big plays with his second career interception. Anzalone added five tackles and a defended pass on the day.
Houston Texans defensive end Jonathan Greenard made an impact against New England. Greenard packed the stat sheet recording two tackles for loss, one QB hit and big fourth-quarter sack of Patriots quarterback Mac Jones.
