Fabian joins the Gators after a senior season in which he batted .462/.547/.967 with 13 home runs and eight stolen bases en route to being named the 2021 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Baseball recipient.
Up next in Florida's 2021 Meet the Gators series is freshman infielder Deric Fabian out of North Marion High School in Ocala, Fla. As the younger brother of current Gators All-American outfielder
Jud Fabian, Deric will rep the No. 23 jersey during his debut campaign in Orange and Blue.
Recently ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, Florida's 2021 incoming class features 16 freshmen and one four-year college transfer. Individually, Fabian comes to the Gators as the No. 192 player nationally on top of being ranked as the No. 26 player and No. 7 shortstop in Florida.
In each of his two years at North Marion, Fabian lettered under head baseball coach Dale Hall. As a senior, he helped power the Colts to a state runner-up finish while batting .462/.547/.967 with 13 home runs, eight doubles, 52 RBI, 38 runs and eight stolen bases across 29 games. That stat line also featured a 1.515 on-base plus slugging, as 21 of Fabian's 43 hits went for extra bases.
As a result of that performance, Fabian took home 2021 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Baseball honors, which is awarded to the top overall player in the state. Along with his status as Florida's Mr. Baseball, Fabian collected 2021 MaxPreps Baseball All-America Second Team honors in addition to being named an All-State and All-Conference standout.
Fabian also competed for the Orlando Scorpions from 2018-20.
As the son of Eric and Jenny Fabian, Deric enjoys playing golf when not on the diamond. He intends to major in telecommunication at the University of Florida.
