BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida's Leonardo Garcia and Elizabeth Perez were named the Southeastern Conference's Male and Female Diver of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Garcia, kept his momentum going over the past two meets with a first-place finish on the 1 and 3-meter springboard. Garcia finished with 330.90 on the 1-meter board and 394.65 points on the 3-meter board. This award marks Garcia's second diver of the week accolade, the first came the week of Jan. 19, 2021.
For Elizabeth Perez, this is her first Diver of the Week award. It comes after a pair of stellar performances on the 1 and 3-meter springboards this past week against Georgia. Perez swept both boards earning 315.83 points on the 1-meter board and 340.05 on the 3-meter board.
"I'm very happy for both Chunchy and Leo", said diving coach Bryan Gillooly. "At this point in the season we are focused a lot more on the process than the results so I feel like this recognizes all of the hard work they are putting in every day at practice. They have both been great team leaders this season and I know there will be more good things to come."
