Gators In The NFL: Week 12
Monday, November 29, 2021 | Football
GAINESVILLE - On a jam-packed football Sunday, a rising young Gator wideout made an unforgettable play.
Offensive Highlights
Second-year Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson continues to improve. Jefferson blazed through Green Bay's defense to haul in an electrifying 79-yard touchdown, the longest of his young career.
His attempt at a first-career "Lambeau Leap," however, didn't go quite as well.
Jefferson's touchdown grab was the league's fifth-longest reception of the season thus far. His 90 yards on three receptions Sunday gives him 580 yards on 33 receptions on the season -- along with four touchdown grabs. Each week, Jefferson proves he can excel in the league.
Defensive Highlights
On the defensive side, it was nothing new for Falcons edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. Back fully healthy, Fowler would not be stopped en route to the Jacksonville backfield for a huge second-quarter strip sack of Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
The sack gives Fowler a team-leading 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in just eight games played this season. His big performance helped Atlanta's defense shutdown Jacksonville's offense in a 21-14 win for the Falcons.
