Gators In The NFL: Week 14
Monday, December 13, 2021 | Football
GAINESVILLE, FL – Week 14 of the NFL has come and gone as a pair of Gators shine for Atlanta.
Defensive Highlights
It was a big weekend for 'the ATL' as the Atlanta Falcons took down the Carolina Panthers 29-21 on the road Sunday.
Not without some help from a few former Gators.
On a pivotal fourth-quarter fourth and 10 for Carolina, Falcons edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. came flying off the edge to bring down Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. The sack gave Fowler a team-leading 4.5 on the year.
With under 10 minutes left and two-score lead, Atlanta regained possession and didn't look back.
Offensive Highlights
It was another Gator Falcon who put the game on ice.
Up by eight with under three minutes left, Atlanta faced a third and 13. Gain 13 yards and you fly home happy. Fail to get across the down marker and Carolina will have a chance to tie.
Rookie tight end Kyle Pitts – the unicorn himself – answered the call. Pitts took a short crosser down the sideline for a huge 23-yard scamper.
Pitts finished with 61 yards on five receptions Sunday. His 709 receiving yards this season rank third among all tight ends.
