Carter's Corner: Napier A (Digital) Man About Town

The Gators announced the hiring of head coach Billy Napier across the country with the help of a marketing campaign and modern technology.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gators coach Billy Napier is a man about town.

Since he finished his time at Louisiana with a Sun Belt Conference championship on Saturday night and arrived in Florida late Sunday morning to take over the Gators, the 42-year-old Napier has surfaced in several cities across the country.

He showed up in Atlanta on Saturday, the day of the Southeastern Conference Championship Game. He was in Miami on Monday as the Hurricanes introduced their new coach. Napier has been seen all over the Sunshine State, drawing attention in Orlando, Jacksonville and Tampa.

Napier has refused to slow down.

He made an appearance in Charlotte, was spotted outside the Superdome in New Orleans, and turned heads on the Las Vegas Strip. Based on social media accounts, Napier appears to own that superpower of being able to be in two or more places at the same time.

When does the man sleep?

To help answer that question, we checked in with Scott Palanjian, assistant athletic director of marketing at the University Athletic Association.

Palanjian cleared up some of the confusion as to how Napier, three days into his new job, keeps popping up in unexpected places.

"These digital billboards are just part of a comprehensive marketing campaign to welcome Coach Napier to Gator Nation,'' Palanjian said.

Oh, that makes more sense.

So, that wasn't really him looming over those Georgia and Alabama tailgaters Saturday. Still, the Gators made Napier's presence felt.
