Gators On Top As They Head In To The Final Day Of The Championships

Talia Bates moves up to number five on the UF all-time best list with a time of 1:44.05 in the 200 free.
 
ATHENS, Ga.- Kathleen Golding and Vanessa Pearl got the Gators going on night three of the SEC Championship with a seventh and eighth finish in the 400IM scoring big points for Florida.

Rosie Zaravos finished fourth in the C-final and 20th overall behind Golding and Pearl.

In the 100-fly, Amanda Ray was the top finisher for the Gators in 14th overall and sixth in the B-final. Kenady Beil placed fifth in the C-final and 21st overall with a time of 53.86.

Talia Bates has the top finished of the night for the Gators with a time of 1:44.05 in the 200 free and placed fourth overall. In the B-final, Tylor Mathieu placed second, Nikki Miller placed third,
Katie Mack placed sixth, and Taylor Ault placed seventh, grabbing massive points for the Gators. Annette Schultz placed fourth in the C-final and tied 18th overall.

In the 100-breast, Cecilia Porter and Adrianna DeBoer went fourth and fifth overall in the A-final. DeBoer went 59.81 to overtake third on the UF all-time best list where she was tied for third before her time tonight.

Katie Minnich was the top finisher for Florida as she finished 13th overall in the 100-back. In the C-final, Rosie Zaravos finished eighth and 24th overall.

The squad of Katie Minnich, Cecilia Porter, Talia Bates, and Gabby Hillis placed fifth in the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:33.78. With that time the Gators posted a B-cut for the NCAA's.

On the platform, Ashley McCool placed sixth with a score of 238.45 in the A-final. Emma Whitner placed ninth overall with a score of 251.10 in the B-final and Elizabeth Perez placed 12th with a score of 232.80.

That's a lot of team points in a very close team race. The women represented the Gators with tons of class. Hats off to Ashley for a truly outstanding meet. She was phenomenal."

What's Next

Florida will be back in the pool on Saturday morning with the first session of preliminaries.

The day will start-off at 10 a.m. ET with the 200-back followed by, the 100-free, the200-breast, the 200-fly and the 1650-free.

The finals for the respective events and the 400-free relay will begin at 6 p.m. ET.
